What's New with the Clean Water Action Plan To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Clean Water Act, the Vice President asked the federal agencies to develop and implement a comprehensive plan that would help revitalize the nation’s commitment to our valuable water resources. The result was the Clean Water Action Plan, which was released on February 19, 1998. Since that time the federal agencies have been working with tribal, state, and local partners to implement the more than 100 key actions in the Action Plan and build a new framework for watershed protection in the 21st century.
