Regional
Wastewater Planning Study
Public Meeting to
be Held
in Orange
County
(Orange,
TX)
The Sabine River Authority of Texas (SRA-TX) along with the Cities of
Orange, Bridge City
and Pinehurst, Orange County WCID No. 2 and Orangefield Water Supply
Corporation are holding a public meeting to get input on a new regional
wastewater facility planning study. The meeting, scheduled from 10:00 a.m. –
11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 21st, will be held at the West
Orange City Hall located
at 2700 Western Avenue
in West Orange. The participating agencies, cities and
water/wastewater entities recently initiated the study and provided funding
along with partial funding by the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB). The study will identify feasible options for
regional wastewater treatment facilities to meet the wastewater treatment needs
within the Orange County
study area.
The study area includes the boundaries of the
participating cities and water/wastewater entities which are generally located
in the eastern portion of Orange
County as well as unserved areas adjacent to the entities. The purpose of the initial meeting will be to
designate the study area and review readily available background information
such as population and permitted discharge locations; review the objectives and
tasks of the study; and define the objectives for future meetings.

“SRA-TX and the other participants encourage everyone
interested in this study to come and participate in this meeting,” stated Bill
Hughes, Director of Engineering Services for SRA-TX. “We believe that the open exchange of ideas
and the active involvement of the public with water/wastewater service
providers will be crucial to achieving a meaningful outcome,” added
Hughes.
