Lower Sabine River

Sabine Canoes, Inc.

rents canoes without guides for use on the lower Sabine River. The $23-per-canoe rate includes shuttle service for a half-day trip that begins approximately 11 river miles upstream from a takeout at the US 190 bridge at Bon Wier. Tack-A-Paw Expedition's

outpost is located on Toro Bayou, 22 miles from Leesville, Louisiana and two miles from Toledo Bend Dam. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department

often sponsors a biologist-led canoe trip of Blue Elbow Swamp (Orange) for those with their own canoes. The $25 annual Texas Conservation Passport and strong paddling muscles are required.
